* The Thin Man *
William Powell and Myrna Loy were sophistication personified. They created the characters of Nick and Nora Charles, urbane husband/wife sleuths who somehow found time to solve murder cases between cocktails. Even their nosy fox terrier Asta proved to be a big help in sniffing out clues. Screwball comedy and mystery have been shaken and stirred in just the right proportion. Based on a Dashiell Hammett novel, this was the first (and best) of a captivating series.
