China's Shanda plans US$300-US$500 mln IPO -paper

HONG KONG, Dec 12 (Reuters) - Chinese online game developer Shanda Networking Co Ltd has filed to make an initial public offering next year, and hopes to raise US$300 million to US$500 million, according to a newspaper report on Friday.
The Shanghai-based company has filed to offer shares on the Nasdaq, the South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported, citing industry sources. Spokesman Li Shujun declined to comment on any potential IPO plans at an event on Thursday in Hong Kong.
The four-year-old company earned US$25 million last year on revenue of US$50 million, according to the SCMP. It expected both figures to double this year.
The company on Thursday was named the second-fastest growing high-tech firm in Asia this year, with revenue growth of 10,342 percent over the last three years, according to Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, which compiles its survey annually.
The potential offering would be the latest in a string of recent high-profile IPOs by Chinese firms, which have met with positive investor sentiment in both the United States and Hong Kong.
Earlier this week, Chinese truck and sport utility vehicle maker Great Wall Automobile (HKSE:2333.HK - News) priced its IPO at the top end of an indicated range, raising HK$1.516 billion (US$194 million) from an issue that was vastly oversubscribed.
Also this week, Online travel agent Ctrip (NasdaqNM:CTRP - News) made a US$76 million public offering in New York and saw its stock gain 88.56 percent on its first trading day -- the best first-day gainer in New York for three years.
China Life Insurance Co (HKSE:2628.HK - News) is also in the process of making a dual listing -- also vastly oversubscribed -- expected to raise up to US$3 billion in New York and Hong Kong in the biggest IPO this year.
