Principle Engineer:
The Principle Engineer for the development of mid to high volume electro-mechanical actuators for the commercial HVAC market. The Principle Engineer will successfully drive the development of design concepts into realistic products that meet performance, quality, budget and timeline requirements through cooperation and leadership of a worldwide new product development team. Apply expert technical knowledge to critical technique developments, primarily through consultation to others across the global technique teams; provide coaching and mentoring across all development teams.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
• Provides expert advice and consultancy services.
• Influences colleagues and customers on technical issues.
• Shows technical leadership in areas of expertise and provides valuable input into other areas.
• Acts as a role model, mentor and coach for other team members.
• Provides internal training & consulting on implementation tools, standards and techniques.
• Shares responsibility for achieving team goals.
• Actively listens and helps other team members to understand various viewpoints.
• Works to agreed schedules and goals.
• Proficient at several aspects of development from specification, design, testing, and support using established standards.
• Is regarded as an expert in applying several of the relevant technologies and development tools.
• Coaches other team members on intent, approach and use of operating procedures.
• Identifies key opportunities for process improvement.
• Multi-use of DFSS tools in product design.
• Provides exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers.
Minimum Education:
• Bachelor ’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, Master or Doctor’s Degree preferred
• Fluent English in writing, reading, listening and speaking
Minimum Experience:
• 12 years in the design and development of high volume, low cost, machine-motion products
• Has participated in all facets of at least eight major releases of product or eight major projects
• Gear train design experience is desirable
Candidate Must:
• Demonstrate strategic problem solving skills utilizing “big picture” thinking as well as solving day to day challenges quickly and effectively
• Has excellent problem solving skills and resolves complex technical issues.
• Capable of researching and proto-typing to enumerate potential options and justify recommended approaches
• Has good specialist product, application or service knowledge and understands how these can be integrated together to meet customer needs.
• Is aware of technological advances that may be relevant for our business.
• Has excellent attention to details.
• Has consulting and facilitation skills
• Has project management skills
