Job Description - SAP Product Structure Configuration and Pricing Expert
Primary Function
You have established your expertise in variant configuration and pricing of products and services for quotes and orders in SAP. You will apply your expertise in developing concepts and standards to enhance productivity in product structure representation and pricing of our life science and chemical analysis products. You will act as SAP champion and internal consultant, helping to develop, implement and manage changes and improvements to the supply chain/order fulfillment process and organization. You will also be part of an international community of business process experts that will collaborate to provide global solutions to ERP business processes.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
1. Variant Configuration – Acts as a systems lead and expert for maintenance of product structure representation, material class, material profile, characteristics and rules, and object dependencies in SAP.
2. Product structure consulting – Consults with Supply Chain Management and business functions on how to best utilize available ERP functionality and to implement process improvements. Performs an internal consultant role related to product structure and representation. Converts marketing and field requirements into SAP product structure representation for make-to-order and make-to-stock products.
3. Pricing – Directs the development, implementation and administration of pricing procedures in SAP.
4. ERP Business Processes – Provides business process solutions and services in the design, development, modification, implementation and maintenance of cost effective order fulfillment ERP infrastructure. Provides guidance, expertise and services to ensure process quality. Develops, implements and evaluates tools and equipment for process quality assurance and for product/process improvement.
5. Continuous improvement – Leads process improvement efforts related to product configuration and representation in SAP based order fulfillment business process. Maintains common business process design and encourages global business process implementation.
6. Support – Serves as escalation path for key users to resolve SAP order fulfillment business process issues related to product configuration and pricing. Qualifies, performs root cause analysis and proactively resolves issues. Provides quick response to fix configuration errors identified by members of supply chain organization, field engineers, Customer Service Representatives or Customers. Provide guidance on tools/system support for Operations, including education and training materials.
7. Collaboration – Partners with SAP IT team to assist in the design, development and implementation of functional improvements. Coordinates changes and testing with SAP IT development and support team. Serves as liaison to IT in evaluating business process issues and data availability and recommending business systems solutions.
8. Assignments – Assumes various assignments as needed.
• Consulting: Develops visions, strategies and plans based on business requirements through partnership with IT and other business functions.
• Systems Design: Provides/coordinates ERP business process design, analysis and/or engineering. Identifies, qualifies, and recommends solutions using external and internal partners.
• Systems Implementation: Ensures integration and successful implementation of business, infrastructure or support solutions.
• Project Management: Leads a team in providing solutions to complex business problems from project request through implementation of integrated solutions and/or infrastructure services. Responsible for all management processes, resources and deliverables related to assigned project. Key contributor/functional leader for integration activities associated with business acquisitions.
• Support: Provides all levels of support/training for product structure representation and pricing across Agilent sites.
Qualification
• BS or Masters Degree or equivalent, with a minimum of three years of hands-on experience with SAP product structure representation and pricing.
• Understanding of SAP from a business function and technical perspective, including requirements analysis, functional design, testing, user training, operation and support.
• Experience in implementing and deploying SAP solutions that provide a competitive advantage
• Firm understanding of Order Management operations; its principles, strategies and goals.
• Demonstrated project management & organizational expertise. Proven ability to work across cultures and geographies. Experience in working in a global team or virtual team environment.
• Exhibited strong communications skills.
• Strong business acumen.
• Strong knowledge of software tools such as spreadsheets, graphics, and databases.
• Ability to influence others.
• Results-oriented - ability to lead others to achieve a common goal.
• Strong analytical skills working in a highly complex business environment.
• Strong skills in SAP product representation, product structure and pricing. Demonstrated aptitude with the SAP Variant Configuration software.
