Mecox Lane Accused of Misleading Investors Before IPO
Dec. 3 (Bloomberg) -- Mecox Lane Ltd., the Chinese online retailer, was accused in a lawsuit of misleading investors before its initial public offering in October.
Mecox knew by Sept. 30 that rising costs would make it impossible for the company to achieve its projected results, Ahmed Arfa, a shareholder, said today in a complaint filed in federal court in Manhattan. Arfa seeks to represent other Mecox shareholders in a group lawsuit, or class action, and requested unspecified damages.
Mecox American depositary receipts, each representing seven common shares, fell 39 percent on Nov. 30, the day after the company reported third-quarter results.
An outside spokeswoman for Mecox in New York, Jessica Barist Cohen, didn’t immediately return a call for comment after business hours.
