JOB DESCRIPTION - DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Software development
• Line management of developers
• Understanding, improving and executing the development process and ensuring that developers are adhering to it.
• Producing design specifications and development estimates and managing this process across the team.
• Scheduling of tasks and allocation of work to developers and ensuring that these are being carried out effectively and efficiently.
• Supervision of work that's carried out by the developers (quality and process).
• Monitoring of progress and reporting of same to the Development Manager and Project Management.
• Identifying and pursuing improvements to the software development process.
• Ensuring that Configuration Management processes and procedures are sufficient and adhered to.
• Ensuring that any 3rd-level support responsibilities are carried out effectively and in a timely manner.
Qualifications
JOB SPECIFICATIONS - REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
• Excellent academic record.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Excellent organisational skills.
• Strong track record in the delivery of software based solutions.
• Strong understanding of software systems, development issues, methodologies, and processes within a professional software development practice.
• Strong ongoing technical/development background including 3-6 years experience programming in Java or C++
• At least 1 year of line management experience
• Educated to degree level or evidence of an equivalent level of technical competence.
• Strong track record of promoting improvement within their sphere of influence.
• An understanding of the financial markets and the requirements of participants within those markets.
• An understanding of post trade confirmation systems.
• An understanding of agile development methodolodies
• An understanding of the NGTx technology and architecture

Role and Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for helping to plan, design, develop, and test software systems or applications for software enhancements and new products. Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work and general instructions on new assignments. Candidates should demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Accountable for the quality of own work, delivered within agreed procedures and timeframes. Works independently within defined parameters, taking ownership of problems within own area of knowledge. Makes recommendations for process improvements to immediate manager.
•Responsible for software design and coding, developing applications per written specifications.
•Responsible for software testing and debugging.
•Responsible for participating in project planning sessions wth team members to analyze development requirements.
•Responsible for translating technical requirements into application code and modules.
•Responsible for making modifications to existing software applications and modules.
•Responsible for unit testing.
•Responsible for providing accurate work estimates and aiding in the preparation of status updates for projects.
•Responsible for producing technical documentation, which may include basic design specifications.
•Responsible for taking part in reviews of own work as well as in reviews of the work of colleagues.
•Responsible for verbally communicating with colleagues both within and outside of the product development department.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree or above
Required Skills, Necessary industry Experience & associated number of years of experience:
•3+ years of C# experience
•3+ years of Windows Forms development
•3+ years of ASP.NET development
•Strong knowledge of the base Class Library
•Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming
•Strong knowledge of web service consumption models
•Strong knowledge of ASP.NET, HTML, CSS
•Strong knowledge of ADO.NET
•Strong knowledge of documenting technical specifications
•Experience with smart client technologies preferred
•Experience with .NET 2.0/3.5 features
•Strong knowledge of building multi-lingual applications
•Experience with using Oracle as a backend preferred
•Experience with File I/O operations in .NET
•Experience with Visual Studio 2005/2008
Desired Skills, Necessary industry Experience & associated number of years of experience:
•Experience with major third party components preferred
•Must be a self-starter
•Excellent communication skills
•Must be able to participate in design and code reviews
