ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Be an expert in all technical aspects of the product they are responsible for
• Evaluate and recommend appropriate technologies based on product needs and industry trends
• Develop creative solutions and write technical design & architecture documents
• Lead assigned team in evaluation of current and future field implementation. Recommend design modifications or enhancements to eliminate serious software design roadblocks, or significantly improve the product performance.
• Provide technical guidance and assistance to engineers and technical support staff. Cross-train others on product features that are implemented
• Develop and apply advanced software engineering theories, methods and research techniques to validate or test assigned hypothesis.
• Provide technical consultation to management, technical staff and other organizations.
• Constantly look for better processes for projecting and improving project profitability
• Develop and execute unit tests for product components
• Help protect the IP created in IGT and file technical patents and publications
• Perform peer code reviews and provide feedback
• Promote high quality, scalability, and timely completion of projects
• Work with geographically distributed teams
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• No direct supervisory responsibilities
• Advisory role to support other software engineers and engineering management
• Provide technical leadership on individual projects
• Status reporting, technical and product presentations
SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
• BS Computer Science or equivalent degree, MS preferred
• 6+ years of hands-on database development using any SQL language and RDBMS
• Exceptional problem solving skills and the ability to take initiative to solve issues in the context of current design and processes including performance tuning
• Microsoft SQL Server 2000 a must. Microsoft SQL Server 2005 a plus.
• Experience in using SQL tools: Enterprise Manager and query analyzer or Management Studio
• Experience in using DTS or SSIS.
• Experience in DBA tasks, with complete database system setup, including Server OS & DB configuration, SAN setup & configurations, filegroup setup, DB Backup/Recovery, etc.
• Experience in designing and developing T-SQL code including stored procedures and views, DTS/SSIS and OLAP objects, etc. independently
• Understands advanced principles of database physical and logic design.
• Microsoft Analysis Services 2000 or 2005, Microsoft Reporting Services, Visual Studio Team System, Casino Systems knowledge, and MCDBA a plus.
• Knowledge of the implications of developing for high-availability clustered environments
• Good speaking and writing skills, in both Chinese and English
• Comfortable working in a flexible Agile development environment
