VP of R&D
Description
The VP of R&D is responsible for overseeing the strategic and technology direction of the US R&D Center in conjunction with Huawei HQ in China. This senior managerial and technical position leads the innovations of new technologies, directs the development of new products, and managing the R&D teams/departments. ba<x>sed on interaction with R&D, the product, marketing, operations and executive management team, this person will provide strong leadership and direction for the R&D engineering team. The ideal candidate will see themselves with technical skills that have grown into a strong manager of people and projects with proven technology vision and leadership ability.
Requirements/Qualifications:
Possess proven full life-cycle experience in complex technology research and product development; preferably in network technologies and systems architectures that have been commercially released for array of broad product line and offerings.
Have solid understanding and vision of IP core network, metro Ethernet network, optical network broadband access network and background of systems architecture, hardware, software and ASIC design.
Demonstrate and champion standardization, component-ba<x>sed and platform-specific management research and development. Lead and manage the time-to-market of products and speed up response time to market demands.
Must possess diverse leadership skills, be political savvy, be cultural aware and have sold understanding of international business and industry trends.
Successfully lead and manage other high potential leaders (Directors and Managers) and associated staff and engineers.
Capable of building and developing a world-class R&D team
Excellent project management skills; capable of ensuring multiple projects stay on-track and are delivered under budget, including internal resource planning, scheduling, and management of outside resources.
Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to communicate effectively with executive management, non-engineers and engineers.
Possess the leadership and management skills to bring structure, discipline and process to a R&D environment, while retaining the ability to work in an ever changing environment.
5 to 8+ years in VP Engineering or Sr. Director Position at a major telecom company.
Education in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science is preferred.
