originally from Guangdong. She met a married american who was teaching English in Guangzhou. He made arrangements to get her to the U.S. and let her live in his home. He soon divorced his wife and married Deng.
Deng divorced him shortly after she got her green card. She went on to date another american who helped her with her schooling in Stanford University. After she graduated with an MBA from Stanford, Deng got a job in Hongkong working for Star TV, where she met her future husband Murdoch.
