it depends on chapter 7 or chapter 11. believe delta filed chapter 11, and northwest looking at the same...
air lines, as well as steamship lines are asset based carriers thus they must make throught the bank notes.
last week, delta missed out on big notes...which put them in sorta delinquent status somewhat...
however, if another company for any odd reason sees a chance and feeling confident to turn it around and takes over, inject capitals...it can be changed.
or a re-org....stuff like that...so yes and no to your question
one of the oil companies played that: *cannot mention name so as to stay out of trouble) went bankcrupcy in 80's, and came back later stay hot as ever...
