Many foreign movies are easily available in all kinds of public library. There are cheap online service, Netflix, which offer amazing prices and collection-- I can NEVER imagine to see that in Europe.
As to arts. US has many opera houses. At least in South California, I think the prices are low and programs are excellent.
You might need to talk to local Americans to find more useful infp.
US's history channel, discovery channel.......... offer excellent TV programs Just do not waste your time with those big 3 national ones.
