推荐两本书：光荣的深度（DEPTHS OF GLORY）和 １９００（ART at CROSSROAD）
大学读的，印象特深，１９００的PARIS是多交叉荟萃的世界之都啊。
想想：１９００世博会，学院展，奥运会
那些大宫，小宫，奥塞馆。。。都是当时建的
印象派得去巴黎看，趁EURO低。玩欧洲去!
当然CHICAGO INSTITUTE OF ARTS，
BOSTON，METROPOLITAN也有
我不FAN PISSARO，但光荣的深度说了不少画背后其他人的故事。

Degas and his associates used the term “Bouguereauté” in a derogatory manner to describe any artistic style reliant on “slick and artificial surfaces”,[17] also known as a licked finish.
But after 1920, Bouguereau fell into disrepute, due in part to changing tastes and partly to his staunch opposition to the Impressionists who were finally gaining acceptance. For decades following, his name was not even mentioned in encyclopedias.
About Whistler:
James Abbott McNeill Whistler (1834 – 1903) was an American-born, British-ba<x>sed artist.Whistler arrived in Paris in 1855, He studied traditional art methods for a short time at the Ecole Impériale and at the atelier of Charles Gabriel Gleyre.
Whistler's mother:
Although an icon of American art, it rarely appears in the United States, having toured in 1932-1934, appeared at the Atlanta Art Association in the fall of 1962.[1] the National Gallery of Art in 1994 and the Detroit Institute of Arts in 2004. It appeared at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts from June to September 2006.
The work was shown at the 104th Exhibition of the Royal Academy of Art in London (1872), but first came within a hair's breadth of rejection by the Academy. This episode worsened the rift between Whistler and the British art world; Arrangement would be the last painting he would submit for the Academy's approval.
Whistler would eventually pawn the painting, which was acquired in 1891 by Paris' Musée du Luxembourg.
In December 1884, Whistler wrote:
"Just think — to go and look at one's own picture hanging on the walls of Luxembourg — remembering how it had been treated in England — to be met everywhere with deference and respect...and to know that all this is ... a tremendous slap in the face to the Academy and the rest! Really it is like a dream."
