problems are not so obvious. I have lived in the Midwest for several
years. I made a few real friends among the local whites. You will
understand their real thinking and the real history of racial discrimination
in the US when you play poker with them, play darts in a bar, or hang out
with their friends. There are of course differences between liberals and
conservatives on racial issues. But don't forget: Chinese Exclusion Act, such
a sad and unfair law, could be passed and remain effective for over 60 years.
That shows there is a cultural foundation for the racists in this country. It will
only help ourselves and our decendants on this land if we are highly aware of
these potential problems in the future. Don't stick our heads into the sand.
