In my generation, male were still much better than female. In US, girls' GPA exceeded boys in 1974, which has since never gone back.
I posted at 98 that a senior high school teacher complained Gaokao exam has become easier and easier, which made girls scoring higher and higher.
I further concluded this is the reason why white collar girls cannot find matching husband.
Worse yet, it hurts China's R&D so we have to listen to Bush, the bastard.
But I have no solution to this BIG, BIG, BIG problem because Gaokao exam has to be in line with examinees' qualification or it would not serve its purpose.

ANY US university is easier to get in than beida/tsinghua and, therefore, my claim was based on the kids' performance in China.
Let me give u just one example.
A graduate school classmate from a Shanghai ordinary family married a junior high school graduate in a county of Henan Province [while my ex has a senior high diploma from a city of Henan]
His son and daughter-in-law are Beida undergraduate, now working with Microsoft
His daughter and son-in-law are Tsinghua undergraduate, both got RA from namebrand US universities.

I at least have 6+ yrs experience at my English corners.
1. personality
2. quickly answering your question with some depth and/or unique answer
3. studied/studying at top-3 high schools in Chongqing
4. some have well educated parents
5. some have lucky face and palm reading
6. most speak good English [the ability to learn]
7. Remember, a really good student is good at EVERY course he takes!!!
