Mr Buffett's most well known hedge is against the fall of the US dollars in 05. He lost a lot on the hedge if you follow BH's annual report.

In addition, Buffett's investment style normally demands large, most times contolling stake in a firm where he can influence the company he bought and turn it into a winning business.
China is limited to buy less than 10% of BX and locked in for 4 years.
As I posted right after the deal was announced...It is deal only loser will take. China took it and paying for it.
Loss of $500M plus on 3B invested, even with a very stupid hedge of selling long term covered call will do better than no hedge at all.
Finally, based on China past investment performance in oil, copper deriavtives, etc, what make you think it has any chance of match Mr. Buffett's performance.
When fools think they are genius, that's when things can turn ugly fast.
