From your post, it seems the company you deal with have very little experience of hiring US ba<x>sed staff to station in China.
If you are the 1st guy, then you should try your best to get the best term (in other words, take advantage of their inexperience)

Please find out the tax status of this company's China operation. How to avoid tax is depending on its tax status. (Captive, JV or whatever form).
A common way to avoiding tax for employees in China is through the scheme of reimbursement of expenses (Travel, phone, entertainment, client dinner, etc).
As a US green card holder, you need to declare your world wide income to US IRS, but your income tax paid to Chinese government could be treated as a tax credit on your US tax return.
In general, green card holders with a high cash income in China are least tax favorable since they will not able to qualify the US citizen 85K per year income exemption, and your China income tax rate is higher than US.
You 1st decision should be how long you plan to stay in China. 2 years or for good, it will impact your financial calculations a great deal.
2nd, it will be nice if this company will define the role of the China CM and its performance objective for the first few years. This will help you to figure out what kind of reward you are justified to ask. For example, if you are responsible for no P/L resp v.s. 5M US annual revenue target, the final pay for this position will be completely different.
